| Expanded Services - New Location |
|
We feel blessed to be able to expand our services in our new location at 221 East Main St. in Safford:
- Thrift Store - We offer clothing, furniture, household appliances, books and more for pennies on the dollar! All our thrift store workers are volunteers, so all the money we bring in goes towards helping others, making SVDP Safford more self-sustaining.
- Clothing Closet - Separate from the thrift store, our clothing closet is a cache of free clothing for emergency circumstances, such as for those who lose their belongings in a fire or disaster, or those who must flee abusive situations with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
- Food Pantry - Those in need can receive a box of essential food items every 2 weeks. All you need is an ID card.
- Rent and Utility Assistance - If you are in need of financial help with paying essential bills, please stop by during business hours and talk with us personally.
- Cannery - Canning supplies and machinery are available for those who wish to preserve their personal food stores for a time of need. To use the canenry, pick up a form at the SVDP office during regular hours or email us and we'll send you one.
| Donations |
|
Financial donations by mail: You may mail a check to our address on this page. If you include your return address we will mail you a tax deductible receipt.
Financial donations by phone: We can take your credit or debit card number over the phone. Please see our contact info.
Donation of goods and items:
We can accept clothing, household goods and furnishings. Please bring your donations to the office during operating hours. We also have 24-hour donation box next to the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at 311 South Central Avenue in Safford.
When you donate items, you are helping in two ways:
- Items you donate are sold at extremely affordable prices to those who can use them.
- Income from thrift store sales is used to fund our food pantry and financial assistance programs.
Memorial gifts, reccurring or scheduled donations and planned estate giving are respectfully and gladly accepted.
| | Volunteer! |
| We always welcome contributory, active, associate and temporary members. We need people who can sort, drive, load and unload, clean, visit, and provide administrative duties.
Please call or come by for more information.
Thanks to your support, SVSP Safford has helped over 900 families and 1700 people this year!
In 2010 we distributed over 4000 boxes of food to families in need!

| Our Mission Statement |
|
The Mission Statement of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the United States:
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually
by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and
suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, and
patron, St. Vincent de Paul.
As a reflection of the whole
family of God, Members, who are known as Vincentians, are drawn from
every ethnic and cultural background, age group, and economic level.
Vincentians are united in an international society of charity by their
spirit of poverty, humility and sharing, which is nourished by prayer
and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings and adherence to a basic
Rule.
Organized
locally, Vincentians witness God's love by embracing all works of
charity and justice. The Society collaborates with other people of good
will in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction
in those served because, in them, Vincentians see the face of Christ.
